It is a common term for most of the kidney related diseases. Glomerulonephritis could be due to a sudden attack or it might build up gradually. There are two types of Glomerulonephritis. When the Glomerulonephritis occurs on it’s own, it is said to be primary Glomerulonephritis whereas if it is due to diseases like lupus or diabetes, it is termed as secondary glomerulonephritis. The treatment usually depends upon the type of glomerulonephritis for which kidney biopsy is required.

The kidney acts like a filter and removes the toxins like urea, creatinine from the blood in the form of urine. When the kidney is paralyzed to perform this function, Chronic Renal failure occurs. It is also known as Chronic Kidney disease(CKD). It is divided into 5 stages (stage 1 or early to advanced stage 5) depending on the severity of kidney injury. Toxins and water build up in the body gradually on regular basis. CKD cannot be reversed or cured, but if diagnosed early can be controlled well from progressing to advance stages. In initial stages he or she can be maintained with medications alone.

Hemodialysis is the process of filtering blood through a dialysis machine and removing accumulated toxins and extra water from the body ie When the natural machines of the body- kidneys fails, then artificial machines are used to clean the blood and body. HD may be requires in few cases of acute renal failure where the dialysis is temporary and patient is taken off hemodialysis once his kidney function improves.
